Q1: What's the difference between Neoloop / Lynham and nbn®?
Neoloop / Lynham and nbn® are different network infrastructure providers. Neoloop / Lynham is an independent Australian wholesale network infrastructure provider, delivering open-access fibre network services to residential, business and community developments.
Neoloop / Lynham delivers services using a range of access technologies, including Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP), G.Fast and Fixed Wireless, depending on the service location. In comparison, nbn® uses a range of access technologies depending on the service address, including FTTP, FTTC, FTTN, FTTB and HFC.
Actual service performance may vary depending on your address, the access technology available, line conditions and network environment. Contact us to check which network and access technology are available at your address.
Neoloop / Lynham is available in selected developments across Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Australian Capital Territory. The network primarily serves new residential estates, apartment buildings, master-planned communities and commercial developments.
Availability depends on your address and the development where your property is located. If you’re unsure whether Neoloop / Lynham is available at your address, our Customer Service team can check your address for you. If Neoloop / Lynham is not currently available at your address, we can also help you explore other broadband network options that may be available.
The New Development Fee is a fee charged for all connections made in areas that the fibre infrastructure provider (e.g. Neoloop / Lynham) have identified as within the boundary of a new development. Essentially, it means if fibre internet has never been used at a property before, this one-time fee will be charged to the end user no matter which internet service provider is used. The implementation of this fee was a decision made by the Australian government to offset part of the fibre infrastructure’s cost onto “the parties that use or benefit from them”. Service providers (including Occom) charge this fee on behalf of the upstream fibre provider (e.g. Neoloop / Lynham) when the internet service is activated.
Whether a technician visit is required and how long installation takes depends on your address and the existing network infrastructure at your property.
If your property has already been connected to the fibre network and the required network equipment is in place, your service can usually be activated remotely without a technician visit. In most cases, activation can be completed within 24 hours. If additional network equipment or other infrastructure works are required at your address, a technician visit may be required to complete the installation. We’ll confirm the installation requirements based on your address and arrange your service activation as quickly as possible.
Neoloop / Lynham fibre services require a router that supports PPPoE authentication. If you are using your own router, you’ll need to select PPPoE in your router’s WAN settings and enter the PPPoE username and password we provide when your service is activated.
If you’re unsure whether your router is compatible, our Customer Service team will be happy to help you confirm compatibility and assist with the configuration. Eligible contract include a FREE ASUS router, ensuring full compatibility with the Neoloop / Lynham network and making it easy to get connected.
