This update is wrote on 11/04/25.

on 04/04/25, my internet connection is finally resolved and looks like it is an upstream provider issue not with Occom.

Aside of the technical part, I would like to give my personal appreciation and big thumb up to the Customer Service Team I spoke to (specially to Kevin, Janney, Luna, Tina and Mace). Their prompt response, polite behaviour make the bumpy way more smoothier.

This is what happened:

I moved in to my apartment on Jun 24 and it took 3 weeks to connect internet. The connection is seems ok from Jun 24 up to 14/02/25. On 14/02/25, my whole connection disconnected and after 4 weeks this issue is still not resolved.

I spoke to consultants (Luna and Kevin which are very polite) who tried to help me to reset my router twice over the phone but issue still exist. Looks like they are hesitated to send out field technician until you request and the turnaround is very slow and disappointing.

After insistent requesting, eventually I had a field technician visit on 20/02/25 and an engineer visit on 10/03/25 for investigation on my connection, wire and router. The engineer even brought a back-up router and it turned out there was still no connection and they would unable to identify the exact issue. The status on faulty update for Occom is extremely slow (1 update per week) so if you're service is out then apparently you need to wait forever and no update unless you ask them

Unfortunately, my Meriton apartment can only choose a designated internet provider and if you have other choice, my suggestion is choose a better one.

In addition, I spoke to your consultant Kevin this morning (17/03/25) at approximately 9 am. As per the call with Kevin, I requested to speak to a supervisor. I was informed that 2 supervisors Tina and Kerry would be online by 11:00 am; therefore I requested a call back from either supervisor at 12:30 pm. Just like other poor service companies, no one from Occom bothered to call me back.

If this situation is still not resolved by COB this Thursday (20/03/25), I guarantee a formal complaint with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman will be lodged!

Occom Pty Ltd (ABN 58 608 289 425) uses part of Telstra’s 3G, 4G and 5G mobile network. The service provides 5G coverage reaching at least 75 % of the Australian population. The Telstra Wholesale mobile coverage footprint reaches more than 98.8% of the Australian population and covers more than 1.6 million square kilometres of Australian landmass. Telstra’s 3G Network (850 MHz band) will close in mid-2024.

The network capability of Occom’s 5G mobile plans network has access to download speeds capped at 250Mbps. 5G upload speeds will typically be 1 to 40Mbps. On 4G (while on a 5G plan), typical download speeds are 5 to 180Mbps and upload speeds are 1 to 40Mbps, in 4G coverage areas.

The network capability of Occom’s 4G plans has access to download speeds of 10Mbps up to a speed cap of 100Mbps on 4G. Upload speeds will typically be 1 to 40Mbps.

Speeds may vary due to factors such as location, device capabilities, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration, and download/upload destination.

As long as the mobile you’re planning to use is unlocked and compatible with either 4G or 5G, you should be good to go. OCCOM caters to all device types by offering Standard, Micro and Nano SIMs. If you purchase your SIM card from us, you’ll receive a 3-in-1 SIM so you can punch out the Standard, Micro or Nano SIM your device requires.

Data banking means you can roll over and save any unused data. For example, if you’re on the 10 GB plan and you only use 3 GB for the month, next month you’ll have 10 GB plus the 7 GB left over from the previous month, for a total of 17 GB. So long as you pay your bill on time, and not downgrading your plan, your banked data up to 500GB will never expire.
Transferring your mobile number is easy, all you need are your account details with your current Aussie telco – you don’t have to cancel your plan with them, just kick off the transfer with us.

You’ll need to check with your current telco if you’ll be charged early cancellation fees for transferring to OCCOM. There’s not much you can do to avoid these fees, but the good news is that you’ll never get charged cancellation fees with OCCOM mobile.

OCCOM sim-only mobile plans are all postpaid, featuring an on going auto-renew that renews on a month-to-month basis. Every month you’ll receive a bill and at the end of that billing cycle your plan inclusions will automatically refresh, making it simple for customers to pick a mobile phone plan that suits both their wallet and usage habits. The bill will have a fixed amount at the end of each month. If you exceed your data limit, calls or SMS allowance, the services will continue, however excess charges will added to your next monthly bill.

  • If you’re transferring your OCCOM number to a different Aussie telco, you can contact them to arrange the transfer after you give us a notice. Your new provider will touch base with us to organise the transfer and cancellation of your OCCOM service.
  • If you’re not forfeiting your OCCOM number, you must contact OCCOM. You will lose your OCCOM mobile number, along with any unused OCCOM credit and/or data and any saved voicemails. If you want to use OCCOM again in the future, you’d simply need to buy a new SIM plan.
  1. A 10% off is applied on mobile service when bundled with an active Occom internet service.
  2. This discount is valid as long as your internet is active with Occom.
  3. If your Occom internet service is cancelled, your mobile service will return to the original price.
  4. Each active internet service can be bundled with a maximum of 3 mobile services.
  5. The internet service and bundled mobile services should be registered under the same account.
  6. This promotion cannot be combined with any other ongoing promotions.
  7. Both Occom’s new and existing internet customers can enjoy this bundle promotion.
  8. Occom reserves the right to all final interpretations.
