Procedure to get Wi-Fi at home

The wireless internet connection is a great innovation that helps to get internet service by connecting the devices. Without Wi-Fi, your home internet is limited to gadgets that can connect to your modem with a LAN cable. It is hard to move with the connected cable as if u want to go beyond the area of the cable it will disconnect the internet connection. But, having Wi-Fi at home will give the reliable service of the internet for home. Anyone can connect and get access to the internet service at any place in the house.

Step-Up of Wi-Fi connection at home:
There are some steps that explain how to get a Wi-Fi setup at home. These are:

  •  Purchase a Wireless router:

Buy a wireless router is the first step to get started with the service of Wi-Fi at home. Nowadays ISP offers a wide range of combination devices that is both modem and a wireless router. But, in previous days’ modem and wireless router were two different things. OCCOM is also providing a range of modem which are pre-configured by us that makes easier for the customer to use.

  • Connect wireless router:

If your modem is updated and works like a router, then skip this part.

On the other side, you need to connect a wireless router to your broadband modem. Broadband modems have much variety and every single model will have a LAN port. If you are already using wired internet, this is the port your LAN cable is already plugged into. If there is more than one LAN port, look at the label and connect to the one which says “router”. Once the LAN is located then plug the other end of the LAN cable into the modem as per the given label. These two devices must be connected to the power and after all the connection move to configure it.

  • Configuration of Wireless network:

OCCOM pre-configured the routers for their clients, but to do this by yourself you need to use the Ethernet cable and power cable which is given with the router. One end of the Ethernet cable needs to be plug into your laptop/ computer and the other ends in one of the LAN ports of the router. Connect the power cable with the router as well.

Then sign in to the page on a web browser like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. After that, give the user name and password (which you can remember later) and do the below:
Click on advance > Network > DSL/WAN > Select PPPoE > Fill in PPPoE Username and password> Save.

In the next step, if you want to change the Wi-Fi name, then:
Select Wireless Settings > Change the wifi name > Save.

If you find any trouble, you can contact OCCOM online chat or call us on 1300 299 999. Our friendly team will help you to complete the configuration of the router.

  • Connect Wi-Fi Internet:

This is the last step to set up Wi-Fi for the home. Disconnect the LAN cable from the router and search for the Wi-Fi network. You will find the network name which you have changed and click on it. Enter your password and this is it.

Now you can enjoy your service with no trouble. So, the process to get a Wi-Fi connection at home is being completed and internet service is available for each and every device at any place of your house.
