A list of FTTN/FTTC suburbs can be upgraded to FTTP full fibre
Blog
FTTP as a major occupant of the internet is the only fibre technology with higher speed tiers. Reaching better speeds in maximum instances is exclusiveto Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) technology. Recently, NBNCo has declared that it is improving access to higher speed tiers throughout their present NBN serviced footprint.

Customers living in eligible premises with FTTN or FTTC can be upgraded to higher-speed services. Fundamentally, the pre-decided regions of FTTN will receive the improvement first, after which FTTC may follow suit with the aid of using the same.

Eligible customers will be able to order a higher speed service through their preferred internet retailer once the program to extend fibre deeper into select parts of individual communities is completed. From 29 March 2022, you may be able to submit a Fibre on Demand order in selected FTTN locations via your internet service provider.

How is NBN going to achieve this?

The whole plan has been divided into two phases in order to upgrade more areas under FTTN and FTTC fibre technology.

Phase 1- FTTN Addresses

The NBN Team is working hard to build LFN (Local Fibre Network) to specific FTTN addresses to give those addresses early access to the higher speed tiers. NBNCo will mark the relevant locations as ready once the LFN is completed, allowing for the ordering of a technology upgrade to access the higher speed tiers.

Phase 2- FTTC Addresses

Because the DPUs in the FTTC footprint already has LFN, locations that can be switched to FTTP will be identified, which means a change of access technology and access to the higher speed tiers will be available from RSPs. Contact Occom to check your address now.

What are the eligibility criteria?

In order for FTTN to be eligible for a fibre upgrade, the Fibre on Demand order must have a minimum speed of 100Mbps or higher.  For more information Call 1300 200 999
